North Texas Regional Competitions

2015 Competition

The North Texas Region:

  • Once again, second in terms of overall registration (behind N Carolina)
  • Registered 53 schools: 36 schools from 28 districts, 3 private schools, 8 charter schools, 4 homeschools, and 2 after-school organizations
  • Attracted teams from as far away as Wichita Falls, Nacogdoches and Waco
  • Involved over 600 students, more than half of whom were female or minority
  • Evaluated designs of 55 teams from 22 schools that completed the program and presented future cities to the judges
  • Piloted the Future City Junior program for 4-5th graders (an abbreviated version of the middle school project) with 14 teams from 5 schools

2006 Competition

  • 32 districts and 42 public schools, 4 private schools, 1 charter school and 3 homeschools - the most schools ever registered for the regional program.
  • Teams came from as far away as Lubbock, Georgetown and Texarkana. We had our first charter school registered and our first homeschool completing the program.
  • More than 600 students involved
